There was apprehension in the Catholic diocese of Onitsha yesterday over the attack on the Spiritual Director,  Holy Ghost Adoration Ministry, Uke , Idemmili South local government area Anambra state, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obimma known as ‘’daddy monso’’ by suspected hired assassins at Nkpor and Ideani respectively.

The Nation was told that Fr Obimma was attacked immediately he left his parish at Odume , Nkpor axis heading for his programme at Uke when suddenly at Nkpor near Jordan some gunmen opened fire on him but he drove on , they followed him to Ideani when they opened more volumes of fire on him destroying the vehicle hje rode on completely but was unhurt.

It was leant that he was carrying a monstrance containing a blessed sacrament when the incidence happened.

Police Public Relations officer, Emeka Chukwuemeka (CSP), said such information is not yet made available to him as at press time but a source in Nigerian police Ogidi zone confirmed the accident.

The story is flying everywhere in town as it was alleged Fr Emma later preached at his Adoration ground Friday night and equally confirmed the accident but efforts to contact him failed as he was said not to be answering his calls.

The Nation recalled that 25 people died during the stamped and over 60 persons sustained various degrees of injuries on early morning of Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, during his programme.

Later on November 21, tears flowed, tension high amidst praises to God from the cheeks and lips of family members and friends of the 25 people that died at the stamped  during their night vigil a month ago and over 30 catholic priests led by Catholic Archbishop of Onitsha Archdiocese, Most Rev Valerian Okeke attended the funeral mass.

Thousands of people numbering over 25,000 catholic faithful within Anambra and neigbouring South-East states thronged the venue of the funeral mass.
