Nigerian Council for Islamic Affairs Appeals To Jonathan To End Boko Haram Now

Vice-President of Nigerian Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Anambra State,  Alhaji Dauda Onuora Ajagu, yesterday appealed to President Goodluck Jonathan to take immediate action to halt the rising activities of Boko Haram Islamic sect in some Northern parts of the country.

Ajagu in an interview with newsmen in Onitsha lamented the burning down  a Federal Government College  in  Yobe State and killing of reportedly 43 students of the college in cold blood.

He specifically called on the President to equip and fund the military who are combating terrorism in some states in the North East.

Ajagu who condemned  the last Tuesday wanton  killings in strong term, said that if care is not taken the  activities of Boko Haram may affect the 2015 general elections and called on politicians in the North to rise up to the challenge if they  actually do not want Nigerians  to go their separate ways  sooner than expected.

The Islamic leader also called on the Northern leaders  to rise up to the situation, not only to condemn  in totality this ungodly killings but to do something drastic to dissuade these boys in the Boko Haram to stop the dastardly killings by calling them to order.

He said” these are their children, they cannot say that their children have overgrown them. They should do something very drastic now to stop these boys from this unholy war against innocent Nigerians and children”.

He warned that the easiest way to split Nigeria is to allow these terrorists free reign  to kill innocent Nigerians , including helpless children, demanding rhetorically “what has these young people done to them that they should be killed in this cold blood”.

Ajagu however laid the blame squarely at the doorsteps of the Federal Government, which he said has  over pampered  Boko Haram, saying that by now Boko Haram don not suppose to be existing.

The NSCDIA boss then called on the Chief of Defence Staff, the Chief of Army Staff and other Service Chiefs to rise up to the challenges of Boko Haram insurgents in the North East of the country before the situation goes out  hand.
