Toronto FC Set To Sign Tottenham Forward Jermaine Defoe, English Premier League 2013-14

Toronto FC coach and former All White Ryan Nelsen is set to unveil the biggest signing of his short managerial career with Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe to move to Canada.

The 31-year-old has appeared 55 times for England scoring 19 goals in the process since making his debut in 2004.

In two stints at Spurs, the poacher bagged close to 150 goals in just over 350 appearances for the club.

Nelsen's Toronto finished in ninth place in the Eastern Conference last season, scoring just 30 goals in 34 matches and Defoe's arrival will provide a massive boost for the club.

The new MLS season begins on March 8.
