Governor Peter Obi has presented another cheque for one hundred
million naira to Saint Charles Borromeo Hospital Onitsha for continuation of
work on the on-going school of Nursing project.
Presenting the cheque at the project site, Governor
Obi assured that the State government would continue to intervene to reposition
the institution to meet the demands of the time.
Governor Obi said
the State government partnership with the church had fast tracked the State
strides towards achieving the vision of the Millennium Development
Goals. He noted that the State was today ahead of other States in
development indices in Health and Education sectors.

Catholic Archbishop of Onitsha, Most Reverend Valerian Okeke described Governor
Obi’s tenure as years of active work, visionary service, provision for common
good for all and promotion of holistic health and quality education.

Reverend Okeke observed that the Governor had within the years revived the
State, corrected previous misadministration and impunity, calling on others to
emulate his principles of servant-leader policy to raise the standard of living
in the country.
He said Nigerians
would soon under study the State’s Health and Education systems as well as its
political growth as models to be adopted. The Archbishop assured
that they would accelerate pace of work to ensure early completion of the
project.
One of the
Nurses, Mrs. Cordelia Nwokolo noted that completion of the project would widen
opportunity for intake of more students and the training of more
manpower for the Health sector.
Highlights were presentation of the cheque,
jubilation and songs of solidarity by the nurses.
