Governor Obi Fires Back At Okorocha Over Comments

Governor Peter Obi of Anambra state has taken his Imo state
counterpart, Owelle Rochas Okorocha to the cleaners for accusing
political leaders in the state of undermining the progress of the Igbo
nation in the country’s political power equation.

Okorocha had in his interview reported in one of the national dailies
alleged that “political leaders from Anambra State played
“cash and carry politics” which, according to him, “had sabotaged the
efforts of Ndigbo in achieving the age long ambition of producing the
President of Nigeria”.

Okorocha, among other things had rather urged contemporary Igbo
politicians to “work together as a crop of new leaders to move Ndigbo
forward unlike what happened in the past when Igbo leaders were not
united”.
Obi in a statement described Governor Rochas Okorocha
as “a rabble rouser, an ingrate and one so arrogant he has no respect
for senior citizens”.

“Okorocha’s utterances smack of sheer
arrogance.  They emanate from an over-ambitious rabble rouser who
easily gets carried away any moment he is handed a microphone.  The
Imo State governor is desperate to become the next Igbo President or
Vice-President of Nigeria.  This is simply the reason he abandoned the
All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) through which he recorded his
first electoral victory since he started jumping from pillar to post
over the past several years.

“His desperation did not allow him to realize that he was made by
Governor Peter Obi and Chief Victor Umeh who are both chieftains of
APGA.  It is laughable, in fact unfathomable, that a man could bite
the finger that fed him without qualms.  Such attitude could only come
from Rochas Okorocha who betrayed Chief Marthin Agbaso on whose back
he rode to the Imo State Government House and slammed his younger
brother and former Deputy Governor, Jude Agbaso. Okorocha’s victims
are legion.  They include the Church, mothers and children upon whom
his Abortion Bill would have dealt a crushing blow and so many others.

Obi who spoke through his Chief Press Secretary (CPS) , Mr. Mike Udah said :“Okorocha has no moral ground to talk about unity among Ndigbo.  Is he
united with Senator Chris Anyanwu whose convoy he had attacked more
than once? Is he united with Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha who, with a whiff
of recklessness, he has advised to join All Progressives Congress
(APC) simply because he is already jittery the Deputy Speaker of House
of Representatives would chase him away from Douglas House, Owerri,
come 2015?

“The Imo State Governor should simply shut up his mouth, for given his
antecedents; he is not supposed to attack such statesmen as the former
Vice-President of this country, Dr. Alex Ekwueme and
ex-Governor/ex-Minister Jim Nwobodo.

“Is it not contradictory that while Okorocha claims Anambra State
politicians (Alex Ekwueme and Jim Nwobodo) are the obstacles to the
realization of Igbo Presidency, it was the duo of Anambrarians – Peter
Obi and Victor Umeh – who railroaded him to the Government House,
Owerri in 2011?  Those who live in glass houses should not meddle with
stones”, Udah added.

  1. It is an act of sheer stupidity for one not to exercise decorum in Politics.
