Awada Landlords On Warpath With EEDC Staff

Residents of Ugwuagba layout, Onitsha are unhappy with the attitudes of staffers of the Enugu Electricity Distribution company (EEDC) and are threatening court action should something urgent is not done.
To that end, the Landlords of Akachukwu, Nnamdi and Oguabia streets in Ugwuagba layout, Onitsha called for the immediate transfer of Mr. Kingsley Anyano, the Service Engineer, Awada Center of the Enugu Electricity Distribution Center accusing him of highhandedness.

In a petition signed by Chief Hon. S. O Abuchi of Osuji and Partners Law firm, made available to The Nation yesterday and  addressed to the Chief Executive Officer, Enugu Electricity Distribution Center  the landlords accused Anyano of conduct most likely to cause breach of peace and anarchy in Oduke and Ugwuagba layouts.

They called on the Chief Executive Officer at Enugu Headquarters to call the service engineer to order since the residents are being restrained from taking further legal action on the service engineer’s conducts.

They citied an incident which happened on 20th December 2013, the landlords said Mr. Anyano unilaterally connected a building which is above 1000 poles away to their transformer simply to please his friend whose building has been witnessing epileptic power supply from a different transformer.

The petitioners alleged that following the connection, their transformer has continually parked up due to overloading and at each repair; they spend over two hundred and fifty thousand naira which the same service engineer extorts from them claiming that it was approved by the Enugu Headquarters.

But in a swift reaction, the Service Engineer, Kingsley Anyano denied all the allegations leveled against him. He said all the issues raised by the petitioners are just tissues of lies fabricated to tarnish his image.

He denied collecting any money from the residents and said the transformer in question never parked up. He also said the petitioners were misinformed because he is not even the service engineer in charge of Awada area as they alleged.
