VEAST calls on EFCC to probe source of N45M for Buhari's APC form, rejects indirect primaries

Group calls  on INEC  to cancel  indirect  primaries  for being undemocratic , and on Buhari to  reject  the N45 million Nomination Form Purchase  by NCAN .                     !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Voice  from the  East – VEAST , an Igbo  Group, has  called on Independent  National  Electoral  Commission- INEC, to  cancel  the prevailing indirect primaries embarked upon by  political parties to select their candidates for  election  2019, describing it as unmitigated aberration to any democratic  norm. Election by Delegates rather than by Direct Participation of the eligible voters is the cog in the wheel of democracy in Nigeria and fuels inequity.
By the assertion by its Convener , Comrade Kindness  Jonah, indirect election  is a slap in the face of democracy and must be avoided   by  INEC both in  the primaries and  main election. The group  further alleged  that delegates  in indirect  elections  are usually  quartered in posh hotels and entertained lavishly, including giving parting gifts of  huge sums to swaying  their  choices  to preferred  directions, which it described as the bane of Nigeria’s  untowardness.
In the same process , purpose  and for the same reason, first-past – the-post called option A4  where electorates  file behind  their choice candidates, VEAST condemns ,  should be jettisoned for  a  Direct  Secret-Open  ballot  system where each voter  has all  privacy   to vote for his choice  candidate. The group  also makes  case for the  so called purchase of Nomination Form  of APC presidential primaries  for President Buhari  by a group  known as  ‘Nigeria  Consolidation Ambassadors  Network- NCAN’, describing it as  abuse of  the so called Buhari’s  stance on anti corruption war.

In a statement signed by the  Convener, Comrade Kindness  Jonah, VEAST  said: ‘‘‘  How can  Buhari who is claiming  to be fighting   against corruption, now turn 180-degrees  to  be accepting  corruption –prone Greek gifts? Does NCAN now tell us that Buhari cannot afford  N45  million  to purchase the said  form? Has Buhari  with EFCC  investigated the  source of the money?   ’’’
