Isseke celebrates New yam

Traditional ruler of Isseke, Ihiala council area of Anambra State Igwe Emmanuel Nnabuife, has celebrated his new yam festival in grand style. Historical icon, Olaudah Equiano is from Isseke.

Igwe Nnabuife called on the Federal Government to address issues of marginalization and side lining of Ndi Igbo, stressing that unless this is done, the claims of peace and an end to the civil war would remain wishful thinking.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, Nze Uche Nworah, said the 2018 Heritage Day would be organized by the Ministry of Indigenous Artworks and Diaspora Affairs, in December for people to display their unique foods, music and attires.

President General, Isseke Progressive Union, Chief Gilbert Okonkwo, said the festival remained undetachable from the Igbo existence, adding that the people of Isseke understand the traditional necessity of celebrating yam, as the king of crops.
