The Uchenna Madu-led faction of the Movement for Actualization of the Sovereign state of Biafra (MASSOB) has denied endorsing
Bianca Ojukwu for the Senate in 2019.
The group was reacting to Bianca’s endorsement by the
Ralph Uwazuruike-led faction.
Bianca hopes to contest for the Anambra South seat on
the platform of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
The group said Uwazuruike, who reportedly declared
support for Bianca, is not the leader of MASSOB, and cannot represent the
group, whose primary objective is for Biafra actualization and restoration.
A statement by Madu said: “The leadership of MASSOB
dissociates itself from the falsehood that it is supporting the senatorial
ambition of Iyom Bianca Ojukwu.
“As the foremost Biafran self-determination movement,
MASSOB can never allow its name, integrity and public trust to be dragged into
the disgraceful mud of Nigeria politics.
“We have never met or consulted with Dim Chukwuemeka
Ojukwu’s widow on her senatorial ambition, which is being sponsored by enemies
of Ndigbo.
“Political representation of Ndigbo is not about
compensation, personal likeness or favour. Bianca Ojukwu can never be
compensated with Igbo political representation in Abuja because of Dim Chukwuemeka
Odumegwu Ojukwu.
“Bianca Ojukwu is not Ojukwu whose eloquent, radical
and selfless Igbo interest has no boundary. You can’t equate Bianca with
Ojukwu. Igbo political representation is for Igbo men with eloquent, radical,
fearless and Igbotic tendencies.
“Adding Bianca Ojukwu to the 15 Igbo senators in Abuja
will never bring any positive or progressive change to Ndigbo.”
