Unidentified Youths set Imo Magistrate Court ablaze
www.odogwublog.com reports that about 15 unidentified youths this afternoon set ablaze a Magistrates’ Court in Olru , Imo State, destroying documents and properties.
The
youths whose reason or anger is yet to be known were said to have
invaded the court premises before court proceedings commenced.
A
staff of the court who pleaded anonymity said that
the hoodlums fled immediately after starting the inferno which affected
a part of the building.
According to him, upon
discovery of the inferno, the security personnel attached moved close,
only to see the youths scampering away.
The
source said up till now, there is no inclination as to why the youths
set the court ablaze, even as he said there was no casualty.
Efforts by newsmen to take pictures were rebuffed as the security personnel refused and ordered everyone out.
When
contacted, the Imo State Police Spokesman, Andrew Enwerem confirmed the
incident even as he said it is a suspected case of arson.
Enwerem
disclosed that the State Commissioner of Police, Dasuki Galadanchi, has
directed the Area Commander in charge of Orlu zone to commence full
investigation into the matter noting that the only affected place was
for court documents.
