reports that tragedy struck at Number 2 Umudioka Street Ngbuka Nkpor, Idemili
North Council Area where a man Mr James Nworah killed his wife at the early
hours of Wednesday.
The couple resident in a three story and have five children,
three boys and two girls, recently packed into the building.
Sympathizers including Chinedu Offorjeli and Celina Nwumeh
said that the man, Mr James Nworah from Izzi in Abakiliki, Ebonyi state is alleged
to be mentally unstable and was once a commercial motorcyclist , affected by
recent Okada ban.
They maintained that the couple were living peacefully and
were into pap making business and that the incident happened at about 2am when
they have finished sieving the pap they would sell the following day.
According to them, the wife, Mrs Jennifer Nworah went in to
sleep when the husband came in and hit her on the head with a pestle.
It was also gathered that the man called his brother and
told him that he killed his wife before he was arrested by the police.
Their children were kept with their neighbours and one of
them little Master Peter Nworah said they were asleep when the incident
happened and did not know what really transpired.
Meanwhile the man is now in custody at Ogidi Police Station
where the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Mark Ijarafu confirmed the incident
adding that the man would be taken to the State CID, Awka, while the remains of
the late Mrs Jennifer Nworah have been deposited at the mortuary.
Reacting to the development the chairman Nigerian Red Cross
Society Idemmili North chapter Engineer Uchenna Tagbo decried the rate at which
this kind of crime is perpetrated in Nigeria, stressing the need for people to
be prayerful and re order their mind sets.
The Anambra state Police Public Relations Officer, Mohammadu
Haruna confirmed the incident.
