The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested a man for
the murder of the king of Odo-Oro Ekiti in the Ikole Local Government Area of
Ekiti, Oba Gbadebo Ogunsakin.
The suspect fled into the bush after allegedly
stabbing the traditional ruler with a knife in the chest on Monday.
Oba Gbadebo was said to have just held a council meeting
with his chiefs before he was attacked.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Ekiti State,
DSP Caleb Ikechukwu, in a telephone chat on Tuesday disclosed that the culprit
had been arrested.
Ikechukwu gave the name of the suspect as Stephen
Ademola.
He explained that Ademola was arrested around 4.30pm
on Monday around Ajao Market in Ado-Ekiti.
He said, “The suspect has been arrested. He is in our
custody while the investigation into the matter continues.
“Already, he has confessed to the act when he was
interrogated by our detectives.
“The matter has been transferred to the State Criminal
Investigation Department for further investigation.”
Ikechukwu assured the public that the police would
unravel the mystery behind the murder of the monarch.
