Over 500 beneficiaries receive free medical care from Archbishop Maxwell International Resource Centre

www.odogwublog.com reports that over five hundred rural people were given free medical care by the Archbishop Maxwell International Resource Centre.

The Free Medical Mission was held at the Central School, Ugwuoba in Oji River Local Government Area of Enugu State.

The medical intervention featured over five doctors, nurses and pharmacists.

Archbishop Maxwell Pastoral Care Foundation is a movement committed to broad spectrum of interventions, aimed mostly at people living in the rural areas.

The foundation which is the brainchild of the former Dean of Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Archbishop Maxwell Anikwenwa took the medical intervention to rural people in Ugwuoba, especially women who assembled for their Annual August Meeting.

The Chairman of the Archbishop Maxwell Resource Centre in Nigeria, Professor Anthony Agbata said that the foundation extend intervention to rural Communities who are seemingly marginalized with a view to making them feel a sense of belonging, which he said has been on for over six years in areas such as providing food ae nourishment to HIV/AIDS patients, seed money empowerment for rural farmers, among others.

For the Secretary of the Resource Centre, Sir Ikechukwu Abana, the medical mission, targeted at men, women and children of all ages had been extended to Ugbene, Ntokor, Amanuke, Ugwuanaocha, among others.

The President General of Ugwuoba Development Union, Chief Ossy Omah, described the intervention as a welcome development, bearing in mind, the number of health challenges facing the citizenry in the country, and applauded the Foundation for counting his Community worthy of the gesture.

Members of the Medical Team including Doctor Obinna Aniagbaso and Nurse Rose Nonyelum, said that mostly middle aged and the elderly were beneficiaries of the Ugwuoba health intervention, as it also afforded them the opportunity to counsel beneficiaries on the correct health practices including regular medical check up and treatment, consumption of healthy food, among others.

According to them, ailments prevalent in the community mostly include non-communicable disease such as untreated Malaria, arthritis, uncontrolled Hypertension, diabetes, among others, cautioning them against self medication.

Some of the beneficiaries including Bridget Omah and Hannah Umeadi praised the efforts of the Outreach team.
