Okorocha swears in new 27 Council Chairmen

www.odogwublog.com reports that Governor Rochas Okorocha early today sworn in the 27 Local Government  Areas chairmen who were declared winners of the Imo LGA polls by the State Electoral Commission conducted on Saturday.

APC had won the 27 chairman positions and 636 councillorship positions, while Accord party; Kowa party; Rebuild Nigeria Party; and People's Redemption Party won one Councillor position each.

Meanwhile, four wards were declared inconclusive because of what was described as electoral irregularities in the affected wards.

Governor Rochas Okorocha while administering the oath of office told them that electoral victory came with bigger responsibility from the party and the electorate.

Okorocha said the success of the election was a pointer that democracy has been entrenched in the grassroots in the state, where the people have chosen who they want to represent them.

The Governor charged the new chairmen to be dedicated to the mandate and also ensure that all APC candidates won in 2019, especially President Muhammadu Buhari.

One of the new chairmen, Jude Mbachu, from Isiala Mbano LGA said that himself and his colleagues will work towards the reelection of President Buhari.
