Rochas Okorocha early today sworn in the 27 Local Government Areas
chairmen who were declared winners of the Imo LGA polls by the State
Electoral Commission conducted on Saturday.
APC
had won the 27 chairman positions and 636 councillorship positions,
while Accord party; Kowa party; Rebuild Nigeria Party; and People's
Redemption Party won one Councillor position each.
Meanwhile,
four wards were declared inconclusive because of what was described as
electoral irregularities in the affected wards.
Governor
Rochas Okorocha while administering the oath of office told them that
electoral victory came with bigger responsibility from the party and the
electorate.
Okorocha said the success of the
election was a pointer that democracy has been entrenched in the
grassroots in the state, where the people have chosen who they want to
represent them.
The Governor charged the new
chairmen to be dedicated to the mandate and also ensure that all APC
candidates won in 2019, especially President Muhammadu Buhari.
One
of the new chairmen, Jude Mbachu,from Isiala Mbano LGA said that
himself and his colleagues will work towards the reelection of President
Buhari.
