reports that the Minister for Labour & Employment, Senator Dr. Chris Ngige
yesterday in a live radio interview on Odenigbo 99.1 FM discredited the claim
by the Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial zone, Senator Victor
Umeh that he facilitated the approval of the monies being owed to Anambra State
by the Federal Government.
While speaking, the Minister said: "Recall that
the seat of Anambra Central was vacant for two years after the removal of
Senator Uche Ekwunife by the court.
During the time
we worked through the approval process of the monies, Senator Umeh has not even
neared the Senate. How can a Senator who has spent only five months claim that
he facilitated the approval of the monies we worked on before he arrived the Senate?
We must give honour to whom honour in due".
"I as the Minister representing Anambra State
worked together with the two Anambra State Senators, Senators Andy Uba and
Stella Odua to approve these funds. Initially Anambra submitted about N45bn but
during the vetting process it was reduced to 37Bn. Senator Umeh was never in
the picture at the time we processed the fund for approval", Ngige said.
