reports that barely one week after the Anambra state House of Assembly approved
the Chairmen and members of the re-constituted Transition committees for the
Twenty one (21) local government areas in the state, they are yet to be sworn
in by Governor Willie Obiano.
Obiano had removed the names of 5 council areas or so
including Orumba North, Onitsha North, and Awka North from the reconstituted
list as they are going for election, even as Anambra East was stepped down by
the House.
That is creating tension in Orumba North local government
area as the new Transition Committee Chairman approved by the House of
Assembly, Dr G U Nweke is yet to take over while the removed Transition
Committee Chairman, Mr Emeka Aforka allegedly remained in the office.
Odogwublog.com learnt that Afforka will be celebrating Orumba
North at 27 tomorrow and has sent out invitation cards on his name as the
Transition Committee Chairman of the council area , even as he still goes to
office to the shock of the council workers and stakeholders. He signed the July
salaries of the workers instead of the Head of Local Government administration.
At the ceremony, traditional rulers and prominent citizens
would be given awards at the event and if something urgent is not done, there
may be breakdown of law and order in the council area.
Aforka allegedly said he was asked to return to the council
by the Governor but the House allegedly said it would not reverse itself after
approving the list for reconstituted council area, therefore the list with Dr
G.U Nweke remained authentic but none of the reconstituted committee bosses and
members would operate until sworn in.
Odogwublog.com heard Dr Nweke was accused of anti-party during
the last election in Orumba North which he refuted to be the real story.
When contacted , the removed Transition committee Boss, Mr
Emeka Aforka admitted the storyline but said he was asked to continue because
some people protested the inclusion of Dr Nweke’s name in the Transition
committee list but did not mention who asked him to continue against the rules.
Aforka equally admitted that he is going for election but
holding the Transition Committee Boss seat temporarily to avoid a lacuna,
admitting also that they are preparing for a public lecture and Orumba Day for
tomorrow and next. He said everywhere is calm.
The House of Assembly Member representing Orumba North in
the state Assembly , Hon Romanus Obi could not be reached for comment.
