Republished:Rev. Fr. George Adimike celebrated the 10th anniversary of
his ordination as a Catholic Priest recently. The celebration took place in
Awka-Etiti town, Anambra State, the home town of Fr. Adimike.
Fr. George was ordained a Catholic priest by Most Rev. Dr.
Valerian Okeke, the Archbishop of Onitsha on 7th July 2007. Since his
ordination, Fr. George‘s love for the priesthood together and his avowed
commitment in serving God and humanity has remained unshaken. Shortly after his
ordination, Fr. George was posted to the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity
Onitsha as an Associate Rector for one year. This served as his first official
assignment.
Thereafter, he was
appointed the Personal Assistant and the Press Secretary to the Archbishop of
Onitsha. At the same time, he was appointed the Director and Chaplain of the
Catholic Youths of Anambra State (ANCYON). Based on his competences,
commitment, experience and dedication to the service of God and man, Fr. George
was appointed to serve in different capacities which includes, as an Associate
Director of Communications of the Archdiocese of Onitsha, the Associate Editor
of the Trinitas Newspaper, the Coordinator of the Archdiocesan Projects Office
and the Chaplain, Holy Family Society, Onitsha.
On the whole, Fr. George rendered pastoral work in Onitsha
Catholic Archdiocese for five years. Thereafter, he was sent to Rome Italy, for
further studies. In Rome, he did his Licentiate Programme in Dogmatic Theology
and graduated with First Class Honours (Summa Cum Laude) in 2015 from the
prestigious Pontifical Gregorian University.
He also became a Fellow of the Acton University/Acton
Institute, Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA in 2017.Among other things, he has a
certificate of linguistic proficiency in French from the L’Institut Catholique
de Paris (Catholic University of Paris), France, and in Italian from the
Universita degli Stranieri, Perugia, Italy. He has authored and/ or edited
about 13 books. Currently, Fr George is doing his doctorate programme in
Dogmatic Theology at the Pontifical University, Rome, Italy.
In his goodwill message to the Archbishop of Onitsha, Most
Rev Okeke, said, “There are many reasons to thank God for you and with you. For
the past 10 years, you have carried on your priestly ministry with nobility,
maturity, simplicity and apostolic zeal.
“You are serving your diocese with contentment and
outstanding dedication. In all these, through your prayers, words, sacramental
celebrations, progressive ingenuity and other priestly actions, you have
impressed heavily in the lives of your fellow priests and the people of God.
Though these ten years must have posed a lot of challenges to you but you were
never discouraged. To God alone be the Glory!”
The occasion was attended by dignitaries such as the former
Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, Senator Annie Okonkwo, Senator and Mrs.
Victor Umeh, Chief Sir and Mrs. Dubem Obaze, Chief Tony Ezenna (Orange Drugs),
Chief Ralph Okey Nwosu, National Chair, African Democratic Congress, Dr. Ndi
Onuekwusi, former President, League of Anambra Professionals, Sir Engr. and Mrs
Ikem Osanakpo (KSG). Hon Chuka Ezenwune, Representative, Idemili South, Anambra
House of Assembly, HRH Eze A.O Nwaele JP of Amaifeke, Orlu.
The occasion was also attended by a large number of people,
including 200 Catholic priests, about 50 Catholic reverend Sisters, Catholic
lay faithful, friends, Seminaries and well wishers across the world. The
Severance family in the United State came all the way from the United States to
grace the occasion. The celebration was a celebration of love, gratitude and
commitment to the will of God.
