www.odogwublog.com investigative reporter Cynthia Igbokwe reports that flash flood this morning at about 7:30 am swept a 504 Peugeot vehicle with four occupants behind Governor’s lodge Amawbia, Awka South local government area, Anambra state allegedly killing a 14 years old girl.

The girl was in the flood for over 4 hours and was still alive when rescued but at about 5 pm, unverified news filtered in she allegedly didn’t make it at the hospital. 

The stream Obibia normally overflows its bank whenever there is a heavy down pour. There was a heavy down pour that lasted from 3:30 pm on Tuesday and continued from wee hours of Wednesday morning, that’s today lasting till 11 am or there about. 

The vehicle was heading to Nibo via City Landmark Hotel road but immediately its tyres entered the flood that has already taken over the road covering the Bridge, it stopped the engine and gradually docked it into a ditch then inside the river from the culvert.

Narrating the ordeal an eye witnesses Ogechukwu Chine and Chinenye Okafor said the  girl was in the flood from 7: 30 am till 2 pm when she was rescued by the life guards with the help of a crane driver and rushed to an undisclosed hospital .

They were not sure if it was her first daughter, a covenant child, Precious or the second daughter Ebubechukwu. 

Our correspondent saw the 504 inside the river submerged. 

They said Apostle O Samuel of Zion Pillar Intercessory Ministry from Adegbegbe Village Amawbia and wife who founded the Church were grateful to God for saving their daughter. 

The eyewitnesses said the girl was sick and they were going to get money allegedly from the father in one of the branches of the Church at Nibo before the incident happened. 

They informed that the Apsotle is a torn in the flesh of evil doers around the community and calamity has been befalling him though he has always survived it, like according to them his Church’s roofing had collapsed one night but there was no casualty. 

When www.odogwublog.com got to the scene of the incident , the 504 was still inside the stream while the man who rescued the five persons Emenike Michael said it was only God that saved them as he came 45 minutes after the incident and the flood had thrown them up and them down, submerged but he braved it to assist in rescuing them with his brothers. 

Emenike a horticulturist with business location around the stream said they brought out the five occupants of the vehicle alive two young boys , an elderly man and the 14 years old girl.

He said they were shocked that after all the hours in the water , there was no water in her stomach when finally rescued and that she was still breathing . He informed that the fifth person was someone who came to assist rescue them initially that was swept away. 

He said the girl’s rescue became difficult because she was trapped inside while others were thrown out by the flood because of high current. He prayed the girl would survive the shock.
