Owu settlements are found throughout the Yoruba Kingdom and
they are currently in states that include; Kwara, Ogun, and Osun.
The Owu towns and the indigenes still consider themselves as brothers and they have a good sense of fraternity and kinship among them. The monarchs of the Owu towns have also decided to have a platform for interactions and they now operate under the aegis of the Council of Owu Obas.
The Chairman of the Council is the Olowu of Kuta, Osun state, His Royal Majesty, Oba Hammed Adekunle Oyelude Makama, Tegbosun III. We learned that the monarchs held its maiden meeting on Wednesday, 11th July, at Kuta, Osun state and in the communique issued after the meeting, the royal fathers called on the Federal Government to restructure the security architecture of the country in order to successfully tackle the security challenges facing the nation and also to fulfill the constitutional role of securing lives and property of Nigerians, the royal fathers also praised the Federal Government for its Economic Recovery Growth Plan through the diversification of the nation's economy with emphasis on Agriculture.
The royal message also contained royal request that the political actors at all levels should play by the rules , shun the "do or die" approach and embrace peace. While stating that they are not unmindful of the happenings in the country, the monarchs however, sued for peace noting that it is only a nation where peace and harmony reigns that can guarantee the preservations of its royal stools and domains .
We gathered that the Olowu of Owu, Abeokuta, Olowu of Iji, Olowu Ijebu, Olowu of Owu-Isin, Kwara state, Olowu Ikosi, Olowu Gbawojo,Olowu Telemu, General Ekundayo Opaleye were among those who attended the meeting
