NUPENG Grand Patron, Comrade Nwosu bags United Nations Award

www.odogwublog.com reports the Grand Patron of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), Enugu Branch, Comrade Peter Neto Nwosu has bagged the United Nations Eminent Peace Ambassador Award. 

 

NUPENG is one of the 46 industrial unions formerly affiliated to the Nigeria Labour Congress.

Nwosu who is a candidate in the Anambra South Senatorial Candidate receive the award at the United Nations Sustainable Development  Goals Workshop on indigenous medicine and herbal practice  by the International Association of World Peace Advocates at Universal Hotel Enugu, Nigeria.

This is coming barely one week after he bagged the Peoples Advocate Award for youth empowerment at the Nigerian Dream conference organized by the office of the chairman Law students senate committee on judiciary, Human Right and legal Matters, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka in conjunction with Students Advocacy and Justice Network.

The award which was presented to him by the World Peace president of The IAWPA, His Excellency AMB. Per Stafen came on the heels of his philanthropic activities which  is in line with the Un SDG goals which are aimed at ending poverty, protecting the planet and ensuring prosperity for all. 

Speaking at the event, the facilitator of the programme, Amb. Paschal Buchi Ike (JP AmbP) stated that the workshop was organized to x-ray the role of indigenous medicine and herbal practice towards the attainment of SDG goal 3 which focuses on Universal Health Coverage based on equity, quality and affordability of healthcare for all citizens by 2030 to be achieved through the implementation of promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative health services.

A guest lecturer Prof. Ikemefuna Uzochukwu, Dean, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka called on the practitioners of traditional medicine to strive to attain the standard in producing herbal medicine which he identified has the key to achieving the SDG goal. 

The Senior Special Assistant to Anambra State Governor on indigenous medicine and herbal practice Dr. Onyeka Ibezim ,promised the corporation of the State government to partner with the organization in carrying out enlightenment campaign towards enriching Herbal Medicine in Anambra State.

Comr. Peter Nwosu who was among the inductees and award recipient thanked the organization for finding him worthy to be given the Ambassadorial award and promised never to relent on his programmes which is aimed to make the society a better place.
