Biafra: sit-at-home order partially obeyed

www.odogwublog.com report s that the sit-at-home order issued by the proscribed Independent People Of Biafra (IPOB); Movement for the actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and other pro-Biafran groups to mark the 51st anniversary of the declaration of the independent state of Biafra, yesterday was partially complied with in Imo State.

This is even as the Imo State Police command said no pro-Biafran member was arrested by the joint task force.
Banks, schools, and government agencies resumed duties after the two days public holiday declared to celebrate this year's Children's Day and Democracy Day celebrations.
While some secondary school children were seen going home before the approved closing time, many people stayed home to observe the order.

Meanwhile, a joint task force comprised of army; police; Department of Security Services; Navy; Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps flooded the streets and engaged in stop -and- search in the state .

Imo Police spokesman, Andrew Enwerem said ""there was no arrest, nobody disturbed the peace of the state. There was a joint task force who engaged in confidence building patrol, and the essence was to  reassure the members of the public that the security agencies had the capacity and capability to protect them".

Further, he said "there was no confrontation between the security agencies and pro-Biafran groups, because nobody protested, and we will not go to their houses to arrest them".

Meanwhile, MASSOB Leader, Uchenna Madu in a telephone conversation said the sit-at-home order was a huge success across the south East states, parts of south South and in the diaspora.

Madu said "the program was a huge success. The anniversary started a day earlier at Rojeny stadium Oba ,Anambra state with a candle light procession. A two minute silence was observed during the candle light procession. One minute for the Biafra Hero killed by the Nigerian government during the civil war and the ones killed by the Buhari administration. We also offered prayers for Biafra and supplication to almighty God for a new era .speeches were made and we are optimistic that Biafra is near.
