www.odogwublog.com reports that Senator
Theodore Orji representing Abia Central district Thursday, flagged off
about five kilometer Umuariaga Oboro ring road in Ikwuano Local
Government Area.
The rural road when completed will also serve as a link between Ikwuano, Ibeku and Bende communities.
The ring road according to the Senator is estimated at N250 million adding that it will be asphalted with drainage.
Speaking
during the event, Orji said he decided to fix the road because of its
economic importance to the communities in the area, saying it will not
only make for easy accessibility but also boost farming and economic
activities in the affected rural communities.
He
commended the people of Umuariaga community for their continued support
to him and promised to build a health centre for them to facilitate
easy access to health care services.
The
former Governor also promised to sink five new water bore holes in
Ikwuano before the end of 2018 to ameliorate the water needs of the
people, while enjoining community leaders in the area to agree on
central locations for the projects.
He
also said he was making more efforts in synergy with the House of
Representative member from the constituency, Hon. Sam Onuigbo to ensure
more roads in the district were captured in the federal budget to
lessen the burden on the state.
Senator
Orji urged the people to remain committed in their support for the
Peoples Democratic Party, saying it is the only party where the future
of Nigerians and Ndigbo in particular are guaranteed.
He
further said Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu's many developmental strides had
vindicated him ( Orji) for his support for power shift to Abia South in
2015 in the spirit of equity and fair distribution of political offices
in the state.
Earlier
in his remarks, the President General of the community, Pastor Chukwuma
Alamba, thanked Senator Orji for attracting the road project, saying
that bad road has been a major challenge of the university community.
He
had also pleaded with the senator to help the community with a
healthcare centre considering its high population density due to the
continued influx of students of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture
domiciled in the area.
