Nigerian workers celebrate this year's Workers Day, Governor Rochas
Okorocha of Imo State has appealed to his State workers to appreciate
what his concerted efforts for their welfare since 2011.
Okorocha made the call in a press release signed by his spokesman, Sam Onwuemodo in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
According to him, there has been Concerted effort by his Rescue Mission administration in the state to ensure that workers welfare is a priority.
He said "The
governor appeals to the workers to appreciate the Concerted effort of
the Rescue Mission administration in the State to make their welfare a
priority since he came on board as governor in 2011".
He
assured that he will continue to love the workers in the State in every
respect even as he urged them to always know that his administration
meant well for them.
The Governor called on all the workers in the country to remain patriotic saying they are all partners in progress.
He
assured that he would Continue to love the workers in the State in

Okorocha
congratulated Imo workers and other workers throughout the nation as
they celebrate their Day and wished them all the best.
In
a related development, the immediate past Governor of Imo State, Chief
Ikedi Ohakim has expressed regrets that his successor, Okorocha has
destroyed the State Civil service as well as the gains made before 2011.
He said "It
is on the record that upon assumption of office in 2011 Governor
Okorocha terminated the appointment of 13 Permanent Secretaries and many
Directors were forced out of their careers. This is outside the
chairmen of boards and other agencies that were shown the way out".
Ohakim made the disclosure in a statement signed by his spokesman, Collins Ughalaa yesterday.
Further,
he regretted that Governor Okorocha in his first maiden broadcast in
June 2011, sacked all the 10,000 jobs beneficiaries employed by him;
elected council chairmen and 305 Councillors; the coordinators and
members of the 47 development centers".
Ohakim
called on the Labour and civil servants in the state to join hands with
him and ensure that the anomalies stop in 2019 by bringing him back to
office.
He said " I will
ensure that not only will the civil servants return to their glorious
days, but they will be enhanced by constant trainings, further
education, workshops, etc, with adequately conducive working environment
to meet the challenges of the 21st century, where a vibrant workforce
is the engine of the government".
