Obiano’s former aide wants lawmakers to give accounts

www.odogwublog.com reports that former Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on political matters Hon. Chinedu Obidigwe yesterday demanded that representatives of the people at various levels should be able to give accounts of their stewardship every quarter even as he demanded on state and national lawmakers to give accounts of their representations without further delay.

Obidigwe demanded from State House of Assembly members, Federal Reps and senators to ensure they represent the interest of the masses who voted them in instead of their personal interest.

Obidigwe who spoke at Aguleri, Anambra East local Government Area, Anambra State while addressing the Anambra West Youth Political Vanguard who came to appreciate him for having empowered 21 youths from the Local  Government, the women leaders, ward secretaries, youth leaders and ward Chairmen demanded that political representatives of the people should be above board.

He maintained that the current retrogression suffered by many local governments in Nigeria have common traces to the inability of the political office holders in Nigeria to be above board in their dealings with the electorates.

The former Obiano’s political aide noted that Nigerians most times chase the wind by  expecting peace in a society where people because of their selfish interest had allowed injustice and marginalization to prevail even as he pointed out that injustice and leadership failure as the causes of the major crisis in Nigeria.

He called on political office holders to see the need to empower the youths in order to eradicate crime or reduce youth restiveness in the society.

His words: “It weakens my spirit when I think of the soulless and unbelievable activities of some of many fellow politicians especially, those who represent us at both state house of Assembly and federal House of Assembly as I deduced from their actions and body language that they are not interested in serving the masses but to feed on them. The pitiable plight of the people is not their concern. All they are after is their private pocket, I mean, it’s quite appalling, and it will no doubt impinge on the future of the country. 

Take for instance, somebody at the State House of assembly receives 15,000.000 cash for constituency project annually but go and ask him or her what he has done with  it, story.

Have you seen any of them at the Federal House of Representatives organize a town hall meeting in order to account for his/her stewardship? How many youths did they empower? Yet, they all seek re-election. Surprisingly, everybody keeps wondering why there’s crisis everywhere that is the brain child of injustice and intimidation the people suffer in the hands of Nigeria politicians. Personally, I take pleasure in empowering the youths because that is the only way to eradicate crime in our society, I believe the youths are the leaders of today and tomorrow and I belong to the class of the youths. I want to advise my fellow politicians to retrace their footsteps before it gets late”.

Earlier, the Anambra west Youth Political Vanguard President, Mr John David noted that the restiveness can be drastically reduced only with political justice and equity, pointing out that the youths were not happy with people who do them the more you look the less you see in the name of representation and he called on the Youths to ensure they get their votes cards which is their power to vote against  those not performing.

Also speaking,  chief Barr. Obiora Iwouno said only equity and fairness justifies good representation even as he reminded that they should always have it at the back of their minds that God is watching.
