www.odogwublog.com reports that against the stand by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in
Enugu State as championed by APC chairman in Enugu East local government area,
Dr Ben Nwoye that the party would stop the Deputy Senate President, Ike
Ekweremadu, from returning to the Senate in 2019, stakeholders in Enugu West
senatorial zone yesterday insisted that Prof Ike Ekweremadu has no competitor
for the seat come 2019.
Spokesperson of the stakeholders and immediate Past Chairman
of Ani Nri Local government area, Hon Ben Alukwu said Ekweremadu’s return to the senate is
assured as unprovoked rantings from opposition politicians do not count in
Enugu West politics.
Alukwu said the gang up against Ekweremadu has failed
and would continue to fail as he is very sure that even with Ekweremadu in
prison that he would emerge victorious in the next general election as the senator
representing Enugu West Senatorial zone because he is in touch with his people
and as well loved by them.
Hon Alukwu, a successful businessman and construction
expert is the Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer of SOARS Auto Company
Nigeria limited with dealership of about four major companies in Nigeria
including Tapper Ford Automotive, Mitsubishi, Suzuki and Peugeot said Ekweremadu’s return to the senate has been concluded.
His words: ‘’What they are doing is political witch hunting since
they could not see anything to indict him or poll him down. Their gang up is
operation pull him down. They moved into his personal life, his financial data,
his well being but they don’t know anything. They don’t know that any time, any
day even if they push Prof Ike Ekweremadu to prison, Enugu West will still be
behind Ekweremmadu. Whatever that happens to him, he will still be our Senator
come 2019 to 2023 and I am sure of that. We love him and he loves us dearly. He
is our voice and that of Enugu state if not Ndigbo in Nigerian politics. He has
never been compromised and all these rantings won’t distract him one bit’’.
He said that Ekweremadu is serving his fourth term in
the upper legislative chamber and desiring to return for a fifth term is not a
problem for them, as long as he is representing the people of Enugu West as
effectively as he is doing now.
Alukwu said there is no need for APC local government
chairman to vow over what he has no control over as the election would be
determined at the ballot box , hence nobody including Dr Ben Nwoye and his
likes has powers to stop the moving train of Ekweremadu’s return to senate when
the good people of Enugu West that endorsed him for a fifth term in the senate
are behind him during 2019 general elections.
He said Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the
stakeholders of Enugu West would resist any manipulation the APC cabals may be
planning as insinuated by Dr Nwoye saying that ‘’PDP for the first time, experience the
true meaning of ‘election’ in Enugu State in the next polls’’.
He wondered why the local government APC Boss was over
heating the polity by his unguided utterances like when he said: ‘’The reality is that this
election (2019) will be the most fiercely-contested election in the history of
Enugu State politics because we are on the ground. We have most of the biggest
financiers; we will challenge, and I can bet that Enugu West Senatorial seat
(Ekweremadu’s seat), for sure, will fall into the hands of APC in 2019,” dismissing
the treat as empty.
Hon Alukwu warned traducers to desist from running
down Ekweremadu or face him. His words: ‘’Let me first of all alert all
Nigerians and his traducers and critics that I am now prepared to put a
challenge to any person who wants to mar his image that took him years to build
or truncate his chances. I am prepared to fight back. Let this serve as a
warning to all political never do wells. Let us all join hands to support such
a character to push him to a higher level that is above Enugu West senatorial
ambition. He is already a presidential material, considering his age and what
he has put down in the entire South East. His wealth of experiences in nation
building is enough for Nigerians to consider him for President’’.
