Chief Nnai Nwodo, Ohanaeze Ndigbo is desperate, says Chief Hon. Mrs Calista Nkiru Admimachukwu, President General Ohaneze Igbo Women Organization Worldwide
PRESS RELEASE BY CHIEF HON. MRS CALISTA NKIRU ADIMACHUKWU;
PRESIDENT GENERAL OHANAEZE IGBO WOMEN ORGANIZATION WORLDWIDE AT HER RESIDENCE
IN NNEWI, ANAMBRA STATE ON THE 20TH OF APRIL, 2018.
My attention has been drawn to a publication on the Vanguard
Newspaper of 20th April, 2018 by one Odozi Nwodozi who falsely claimed that the
Ohanaeze Women Wing headed by Calista Adimachukwu and Ohanaeze Youth Wing
headed by Okechukwu Isinguzoro are in Abuja for a purported endorsement of
President Buhari for second term and that our mandates have since expired at
the dissolution of our groups.
This is just the last desperate act by Chief Nnai Nwodo by
proxy to tarnish my reputation. I want to state categorically that the Women
Wing was inaugurated on 31st January, 2015 and as such our mandate ends on 31st
January, 2019 because we were elected for a term of four years. Due to the
maladministration and high-handedness of Chief Nnai Nwodo, the women officially
pulled out of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo main body through Resolution by the Women
Executives on the 3rd of June, 2017 before their so called dissolution of the
groups in September 2017, to which Ohanaeze Ndigbo was notified through Chief
Nnai Nwodo. He never denied our accusations against him for gross misconduct
and high-handedness, and he never negotiated with the women diplomatically nor
contested our pulling out in court till date. The general public and the
government should take note that there is no more Women Wing within the
Ohanaeze main body either now or in the future, because of the fact that
Ohanaeze Women Wing is now a legally existing entity of its own with the name
Ohanaeze Igbo Women Organization Worldwide.
Based on the constitution of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnai
Nwodo has no legal right to conduct any election for the women, as that
authority by constitution is reserved for the women group.
I also want to issue a stern warning to Odozi Nwodozi for
purporting that I am currently in Abuja seeking to endorse President Buhari.
This is false because I have been in Nnewi, Anambra state for over one week
now, and the Ohanaeze Igbo Women Organization Worldwide has not endorsed any
candidate for 2019 elections. If we are to endorse a candidate, we must have a
wide consultation with all Igbo leaders because Igbos are Republicans by
nature. Issues are discussed in Igbo land before decisions are reached. We do
not operate a dictatorial organization like Chief Nnai Nwodo, where he is the
Imperial Majesty, Supreme Leader and Commander-in -Chief of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
Therefore, Odozi Nwodozi must tender an apology within 21
days through the same medium he used to slander and defame my character or face
legal action.

Our attention have
been drawn to a reactionary statement by the General Secretary of Ohanaeze
Ndigbo, Uche Okwukwu on Saturday Sun Newspaper of April 7, 2018, where he
claimed that the Women Wing of Ohanaeze Ndigbo and Youth Wing were dissolved by
the Ime-Obi. This is the second time such statement has been published in
national dailies by the cronies of Chief Nnia Nwodo. The first time was by
Emeka Attamah who also committed the same blunder.
We stated on
Sunday Sun Newspaper of January 28, 2018 and on Vanguard Newspaper of January
31, 2018, what transpired between the Women Wing and main body of Ohanaeze
Ndigbo. We stated in those newspapers that the women wing was no longer part
and parcel of Ohanaeze Ndigbo main body, and we wrote a letter to that effect
to the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo after our Ime-Ofe meeting at Nnewi Hotels
on the 3rd of June 2017, months prior to their Ime-Obi meeting, and which Chief
Nnia Nwodo never contested at any court. Therefore, why would Chief Nnia
Nwodo's led Ohanaeze Ndigbo continue to claim that it dissolved something that
was no longer in its control.
We want to state
categorically that the Women Wing pulled out because of the high-handedness,
intimidation and marginalization of the Women Wing and also due to how Chief
Nnia Nwodo operates Ohanaeze Ndigbo as his private business. If we are pushed
further by the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, we would have no other choice
than to publish copies of the resolution and the letter written to the
leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo which would reveal how Chief Nnia Nwodo operates
the organization.
We also wish to
further state that the Women Wing was never hired nor appointed, but elected
with the mandate of Igbo women. We were never dissolved before we emerged
legally under the banner name of Ohanaeze Igbo Women Organization Worldwide.
Uche Okwukwu's statement as the General Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo that the
Women Wing was dissolved, and that the Ohanaeze Ndigbo is planning to sell
forms for fresh elections, will show the entire public a glimpse of the wicked
and mischevious intent of Chief Nnia Nwodo's led Ohanaeze Ndigbo. What is the
rationale for dissolving the Women Wing that was constitutionally elected,
whose term of office has not expired and at the same time planning to sell
forms for fresh elections. This is to show that Chief Nnia Nwodo is leading
Ndigbo to chaos.
We therefore wish
to once again warn Chief Nnia Nwodo's led Ohanaeze Ndigbo to stop misleading
the general public and the government with lies and deceit, and wake up to the
reality that he has failed as a leader. He should mind the statements he feeds
to the general public and the government to avoid committing further blunders
that would cause embarrassment to Ndigbo.
