CHIEF HON MRS CALISTA NKIRU ADIMACHUKWU IMPLORES NDI IGBO TO OBTAIN VOTER'S CARDS. 
The President General Ohanaeze Igbo Women Organization Worldwide implores all Igbos aged 18 years and above to come out en masse to register and obtain their voter's cards in the current registration exercise going on now nationwide. Speaking to newsmen recently at Nnewi, Chief Mrs Adimachukwu, the President General Ohanaeze Igbo Women Organization Worldwide and former Chairman Nnewi North LGA, frowned at the lethargy with which some Igbos treat the all important need to register and exercise their franchise during elections in Nigeria as if they do not know that their votes are their absolute authority to chose who they want to lead them in the political arena. She called on all Igbo parents to ensure that they not only get themselves registered, but also to get their children and wards who have reached the age of 18 years and above to register and obtain their voter's cards and preserve them. She observed that it is only in the South East geo-political zone that many people adopt this lukewarm attitude towards registration and voting during state and federal elections. Chief Mrs Adimachukwu called on all Igbo parents to ponder over the zeal with which especially Northern citizens go out in their multitude to register and get ready for national elections, because they have been indoctrinated on the saying that election is a game of numbers while the majority carries the vote. She exhorts Ndi-Igbo in general to wake up from their slumber and get cracking now. This campaign should be embarked upon by all political leaders in their wards, all market leaders, school heads and church leaders as a matter of urgency, Mrs Adimachukwu concluded. She called on INEC to ensure that all registration materials are available promptly, and in adequate quantities in all registration centers throughout the South East zone, because it has been observed that the said materials and equipments are in many cases in short supply, whether deliberately or by human error.
