www.odogwublog.com reports that thousands of Catholic faithful, Bishops, Reverend Fathers, brothers and sisters within Awka region converged at St. Patrick's Cathedral Podium, Awka, to celebrate this year's Chrism mass.
Bishop Okoye, who revealed that the Diocese has agreed to end use of vehicles as send-off gifts for priests, urged the congregation to always remember the clergy in their prayers, even as he commended Governor Willie Obiano for all his numerous works in the state, especially the construction of Peter University and the Achina /Onne road, praying God to bless him.
In his speech, Governor Obiano, represented by the Chief of Staff, Mr. Primus Odili, thanked the faithful for their support during the last gubernatorial poll which gave him landslide victory and assured the congregation that his second term administration will be better than his first.
The mass witnessed the blessing of the oils of catechumen, Infirm and the oil of the holy Chrism by the Bishop.
Renewal of faith by the priests and the Catholic faithful, prayers and thanksgiving by the various churches, schools and hospitals that attended the mass added glamour to the event.
