Authority Newspaper's Governor of the year Award: Motivation for more action - Governor Ikpeazu

www.odogwublog.com reports that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has said that his nomination for The Governor of the Year Award by the Authority Newspapers was a motivation to post more democracy dividends to the people of the state.

Ikpeazu stated this today in Umuahia when he received in audience the management team of the newspaper led by the Managing Director, Madu Onuorah.

He said he was highly delighted that his efforts to transform the state were being recognized by a reputable media organization like The Authority Newspapers.

" The recognition for our modest efforts in Abia is enough motivation, more so when it is coming from a reputable national media outfit which is unbiased in its judgment and assessments",  the elated Ikpeazu said.

Ikpeazu who said the efforts of his administration in opening up Aba the industrial hub of the state were already paying off as the volume of economic activities in the city have since improved.

The Governor said that the Federal Government had since started patronizing made-in-Aba products to encourage artisans and local producers in the state.

He said he was leveraging on the expertise and ingenuity of Aba artisans to develop trade and commerce and attract investors to the city.

Ikpeazu said the modernized machines ordered by government for the 30 artisans sponsored to China by his administration to understudy shoe making would soon arrive the state.

He also said two containers of medical equipment ordered by government for hospitals in the state were being expected in two months time.

The Governor said his administration had made landmark achievements in the health and agric sectors as well as infrastructural development.

He hinted that arrangements had been concluded for the launch  of pre- paid cards to  for immediate attention by medical doctors via the phone during emergency health situations.

Ikpeazu also said 250 care givers had already been engaged by the state government to assist aged people who need medical attention in any part of the state.

He described Authority Newspapers as a trail blazer which has already become a leading voice in the media industry despite its young age and daunting challenges.

The Governor applauded the dexterity, focus and professionalism of the management and staff of the organization, and assured of  the  support of the state government.

Earlier in his remark, the MD of The Authority Newspapers, Madu, said the choice of Ikpeazu as the Governor of the Year 2017 award was a consensus decision of the Board of Editors and Management of the Newspaper after a careful assessment of his achievements.

He said Ikpeazu had posted outstanding achievements particularly in the area of infrastructure, promotion of Aba made products, job creation, and youth development.

Madu who was accompanied on the visit by the Executive Director, Production, Joe Nwankwo; and the Executive Director, Business Development, Chuks Akunna, said the Governor had transformed Aba into "a construction site".

Other distinguished Nigerians would also be honoured during the award ceremony slated for the last week of April in Abuja.
