reports that Senator Mao Ohuabunwa representing Abia North district ( PDP), has
lamented that animals such have more values than human being in Nigeria
of today under the All Progressive Congress ( APC) administration.
Ohuabunwa made the lamentation
weekend while commissioning a motorised water bore hole he attracted at Nneato
community of Umunneochi Local Government Area courtesy of the Anambra - Imo
River Basin Development Authority.
The senator observed that the
dehumanising manner human beings were being slaughtered daily in
Nigeria under the watch of APC was a confirmation that the value for human
lives had gone far below that of cows which get dignified slaughter at
abattoirs.
He said that never a time in the
history of Nigeria was "insecurity gone as bad as it is today" , and
challenged APC-led Federal Government to stop passing the bulk and take
responsibility for its failure to secure lives and property of Nigerians.
" Nigeria is so insecure today
that we no longer talk of killings but the number killed. We have lost
value for human lives. In Nigeria under APC cows and dogs have more values than
human beings ".
The former Speaker, ECOWAS
Parliament hinted that due to the callous killings and destruction of farms
crops by herdsmen and the inability of the federal government to rise to the
occasion, a lot of APC lawmakers just like other Nigerians had lost confidence
in the APC- led government.
He said that majority of APC
senators had perfected plans to dump the party and defect in droves to PDP
which he said would provide a better leadership to the country.
" I can tell you that APC
senators are now playing more opposition than their PDP counterparts because
they have lost faith in their party. Very soon they will defect enmass to PDP.
They are only waiting for the right time to strike.
" They are ashamed of what to
tell their constituents during campaign. Is it to tell them that their party
brought hunger and allowed killings of innocent Nigerians? No, they are tired
of the lies ".
Ohuanbunwa who said he had also
attracted N50 million worth of hospital equipment to health centres in the
zone, and distributed 10 electricity transformers said he would continue
to deliver on his campaign promises of quality representation and bringing
government closer to the people.
He said two of the 10 Acts of the
National Assembly already assented to by the President were his bills, a
confirmation that he had not failed in his responsibility as a vibrant lawmaker.
In their remarks, the Town Union
President of Eziama Nneato Community, Dr. Emma Onyearo; and a community Leader,
Sir Ifeanyi Okechukwu, thanked the Senator for proffering solution to the water
needs of the community.
Similarly, the Chairman of
Umunneochi LGA, Chief Okey Igwe, also applauded the senator for his many
developmental strides including a rural electrification project in the zone,
describing him as a "performing and accessible senator".
Speaking at the event, the Executive
Director of Anambra - Imo River Basin Development Authority, Dr. Ben Aneke,
commended Ohuabunwa for facilitating the project, and charged the community to
guard the facility against vandals.
The senator also flagged off a
cottage hospital at Umunneukwu Agbo in Isuikwuato which he said would be ready
before the end of the year.
He promised that every community in
the zone would have a functional health centre before the end of his
sojourn at the senate.
