Access Surgery and a Fertility Specialist thrilled his audience with fantastic
delivery of his ‘’EndoEYE view of the woman at the 41st inaugural
lecture of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka which he was the lecturer said his fertility
practice was not by chance but a calling from God.
‘’….to aspire to be best in my
chosen field , one needed to be on the cutting edge of technology and knowledge.
This informed my quest for further training abroad. Close to the end of my
residency programme in UNTH Enugu, I darted off to UK to sit for the MRCOG
exams. This adventure did not go as planned as I was frustrated and broken , I
remembered my experience on the cold winter night of February 1997 when I
landed at Heathrow airport in London. This same God whom I serve whispered to
me thus,’’ I have brought you to this land to see it and not to possess it; go
back to Nigeria and take care of the people………..’’.
On answering the question , why
EndoEYE view in Gynecology a.k.a Hystero-Laparoscopy , Prof Ikechebelu noted
that the great advantage of the approach in medicine is that you can see and
treat at the same time hence serving dual purpose of diagnosis (diagnostic) and
treatment (therapeutic). He said the EndoEYE view of the woman offers a
platform to see clearly and treat correctly most conditions afflicting the
reproductive environment against the ‘’open and close’’ crude methodology of
the past.
In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor Nnamdi
Azikiwe University Awka , Prof Joseph Eberendu Ahaneku, commended
Prof. Ikechebelu for making the university proud through skills and research,
pointing out that he has demonstrated strength in academics, science,
entrepreneurship and willing to share his wealth of experience with others.
Prof Ahaneku insisted that there is
nothing like professor professing what they claim experts in and commended Prof
Ikechebelu for standing tall among his contemporaries in giving back to the
society in his area of speciality even as he urged other professionals who are
already professors to practice what they preach.
The world class hospital, Life international
Hospital, with the state of the art facilities was commissioned and dedicated
to God in Awka by the Anambra state governor, Chief Willie Obiano as
represented by his Deputy, Dr Nkem Okeke and the Presiding Bishop of Grace of
God Mission International, Bishop Dr Paul Nwachukwu.
The hospital built will employ the
use of modern scientific technology, known as endoEYE view in the diagnosis and
treatment of women related issues and as well, boost quality healthcare
delivery of citizens.
Governor Obiano represented by his
Deputy, Dr. Nkem Okeke while commissioning the edifice expressed shock that an
individual could thought of putting in place such structure and modern
technologies in diagnosis and treatment for the citizens and urged others to
emulate him.
Dedicating the edifice unto God, the
Presiding Bishop of Grace of God Mission, Dr. Paul Nwachukwu stressed that the
project was brought to fruition by God, through man's instrumentality, saying
that just like the name of the hospital implies, when one is giving life, one
is doing the work of God.
In a comment, the traditional ruler
of Umunya, who is the Chairman of Oyi Traditional Ruler's Council, Igwe Kris
Onyekwuluje said that Governor Obiano's solid foundation of security has
attracted many developments into the State, calling on more people to come back
home and invest, as return for their investments is guaranteed in the State.
