www.odogwublog.com reports that the Anambra State House of Assembly has concluded its 2018 Budget defense with all 36 Ministries, Department ,Agencies and Parastatals in Anmabra with a charge to ensure maximum implementation of the budget.
The House Committee Chairman on Finance and Appropriation , Mr Obinna Emenaka (APGA) representing Anambra East Constituency gave the charge on Wednesday during the conclusion of the defense in Awka
According to him budget defense was a very important legislative function which they lawmakers did not handle with a kids glove trusting that once the bill was passed that all officers concerned would swing into action .
“ Our primary duty was to ensure that Anambra people gets what they deserve in terms of good governance and it was the duties of the lawmakers to give them a voice.
“We promised to give the people quality representation and a hope to live a healthy living through placing all dots in governance alright and we had lived up to our promise.
“ We are not only going to pass the budget soonest but will carry out our oversight functions to ensure that the budget of each ministry, departments were used for what it was budgeted for “ he said.
Emenaka commended officers who had done very well in the implementation of 2017 budget and encouraged them for more services and assured the ministries that need a budget push up a consideration for optimal development of the state.
Also speaking Mr Ikem Uzoezie (APGA) representing Aguata 11 constituency and House Committee Chairman on Land commended the ministry for its wisdom in handling the affairs of the ministry .
He urged the officers to improve more as room of improvement abounds so that the people of the state would be happy to be good citizens .
Mr Kingsley Iruba (APGA) representing Nnewi 11constiutency and Chairman committee on Information and Communication Strategy urged the ministry to ensure maximum of its budget implementation as a key ministry in disseminating information to the people.
He said that his committee would not accept any shortfall from the ministry anytime they visit on oversight function.
Mr Peter Ibida (APGA) representing Njikoka11 and Committee Chairman on Trade, Commerce and Wealth creation said that the ministry had programs that when implemented fully would create business, and jobs for the people .
He said that the process if well managed would increase the internally generated revenue of the state for poverty alleviation and economically developing the state for a common good
The Committee chairman on Women’s Affairs and Social Development Miss Nikky Ugochukwu said that the lawmakers had done justice to the budget by ensuring that officers appeared for the defense and questions was asked to infuse the seriousness of the legislatives duties to them .
She said that optimistically that 2018 budget implementation would be more fruitful than that of 2017 as the ministry did very well in its implementation of 2017 budget as she hoped for more robust implementation in 2018 .
News men reports that Anambra Governor Chief Willie Obiano had sent his 2018 budget proposal of N166.9 billion to the law makers in November 30 2017 .
The chairman of finance and appropriation has promised to work on the passage of the bill before the end of this week to enable the sate to commence work fully.
