Gunmen kidnap of two Americans, two Canadians, Killed Two Police Officers

Kidnappers have abducted two Americans and two Canadians in Kaduna State, killing two police officers, spokesperson Kaduna Police Command, Mukhtar Aliyu, said on Wednesday.

He said two policemen attached to the expatriates were killed in a gun duel as they tried to rescue the foreigners.

The incident occurred around Kagarko, along Kaduna-Abuja road on Tuesday night at about 8:00 p.m.

The visitors were heading south from Kafanchan in Kaduna to the capital, Abuja, on Tuesday night when they were ambushed around Kagarko, the Kaduna state police spokesman, Mukhtar Aliyu, said.

“The two police escorts attached to them engaged the kidnappers in a fierce gun battle, which resulted in the unfortunate death of the two police officers,” Mr. Aliyu said.

The Americans and Canadians are investors setting up solar stations in villages around Kafanchan, Mr. Aliyu said.

Mr. Aliyu said the kidnappers are yet to make any demand.

“There is no ransom demand yet, but the anti-kidnap unit of the police is on the trail of the kidnappers,” he said.
