www.odogwublog.com reports that Youth Initiative for Advocacy, Growth and Advancement (YIAGA) says it has trained over five hundred election observers to be deployed to Anambra state to monitor the November 18th, 2017 Governorship election in the state.
YIAGA said five hundred (500) would be stationary observers and Twenty seven (27) others would be mobile citizen observers who are a representative random sample of 250 polling units across all 21 local government areas (LGAs) of Anambra State.

(YIAGA) a.k.a Youth Action Initiative Africa is a civil society organization that promotes democratic governance, human rights, and youth political participation .

Speaking during a round table discussion with the media tagged ‘’watching the vote project and plans for the observation of the 2017 Anambra Gubernatorial elections at Finotel Hotels Awka, the Project Director , Miss Cynthia Mbamalu who explained the vision, mission and core objectives of the organization, stated that one of the core objective is to promote free, fair, peaceful, credible and legitimate elections in Nigeria.
Miss Mbamalu further said that YIAGA mission includes ensuring that elections are conducted in accordance with international and regional standards as well as the laws and the constitution of our country and the "Declaration of Global principles for Nonpartisan Election Observation and Monitoring by citizen organizations.
Speaking further , Miss Mbamalu talked about the #watching the vote(PVT) methodology, adding that , "The PVT is an advanced Election Day Observation Methodology that use well-established statistical principles  and sophisticated  information technology.
She equally said that PVTs provides the most timely and accurate information on the conduct of and  voting counting, and is the observation that can independently verify the accuracy of official independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)Election Results.
Contributing, the training manager Mr Paul James YIAGA is conducting a full scale simulation of parallel vote tabulation (PVT) exercise to test all the major components and to ensure that watching the vote is a success on Election Day.

James also said that if the INEC official results fall within YIAGA's estimated range, then the public, political parties and candidate should have confidence that the official results reflect the ballots cast at polling units. If the results do not reflect the ballots cast, #watching the vote will expose it.
Mr James further said that since inception, the organization has carved a niche for itself as one of Nigeria's frontline youth civil society organization promoting participatory democracy, human rights and active civic participation.
He as well said that YIAGA is tasked with onerous mandate of enhancing the quality of democratic governance, human rights enforcement and youth political participation in Nigeria and Africa.

In her own contribution, Mrs Sefiya Bichi  a member said that PVTs helps #watching The vote to provide an accurate and comprehensive assessment of the Election Day processes, such as whether election officials follow proper procedures, the presence and behavior of party agents, secrecy of the vote and transparency of the process.
