www.odogwublog.com reports that a Catholic priest, Revd. Fr. Cyriacus Onunkwo who was abducted on Friday in Orlu, has been found dead in a forest in Imo state.
Imo State Commissioner of Police, Mr Chris Ezike, confirmed the incident yesterday.
Fr. Onunkwo was said to have been abducted from his vehicle
at Nkwoito junction in Amaifeke area of Orlu local government at about
7pm.
The late priest hailed from Osina in Ideato North council
area of the state and had been on a priestly mission but only came home
to prepare for the burial of his father who reportedly died last week.
His body was discovered in the bush in Omuma village in Oru East local government area on Saturday.
Meanwhile, authorities of the Catholic diocese in Orlu have since confirmed that the corpse was that of their priest.
CP Ezike who said the police is still investigating, hinted that the
priest may have been strangled to death as there was no gunshot or stab wounds from preliminary examinations.

Further, his car was discovered intact, with nothing removed, raising suspicion that it must have been hired assassins.
Ezike said as at press time no arrests have been made but
assured that the killers will be unmasked, and made to face the full
consequences of their action.
