A stray bullet killed a 10-year-old boy as pandemonium broke out this morning at Ekeukwu Market in Owerri, the Imo State capital when the demolition squad reportedly sent by Gov. Rochas Okorocha to ensure the demolition and relocation of the market began bulldozing structures in the area. 

Owerri indigenes, argued that the market is part of their traditional heritage and will resist any attempt to relocate the market but rather be upgraded with today's shopping mall facilities.

It will be recalled that the State Governor, Rochas Okorocha has been in a protracted move to relocate the market. The governor presented his case citing the traffic problems constituted by trading activities on the strategic “Douglas road” as one of his reasons.
