Committee as chaired by Prof. Christian Ezeigbo conducted a grand finale of the
State quiz 2017 as a way of encouraging the students to continue
to become
enlightened and work towards academic excellence and lead in the National
Academic Exercise on this day 31st May baptised our SS2 students
with thousands of Naira. This exercise was in collaboration with the Ministry
of Education, Anambra State
The President of the League, Mr. Willie Nze with His
Team, Prof. Christian Ezeigbo (Exco and Chairman Education Committee), Prof.
Phil Eze (Exco Member, Education Committee), Prof. Nwanna (Member), Buchi
Ochuba (LAP Administrator), Mr. Peter Eze (LAP Member) and Mr. Chike Nwegbe
(LAP Member) were all present at the final competition held at the Main hall of
St. John of God Secondary School, Awka.
The students who were drawn from the 21 Local Government
Areas of Anambra State and had earlier won 1st, 2nd and 3rd
Positions were slated to compete for the ultimate prizes of N100, 000.00 and N50,000.00 as well as N30,000.000
and N5,000 consolation prizes to the 4th,
5th and 6th positions. The written Examination conducted
today gave birth to first six students out of 63 students to compete for the
ultimate prizes unto consolation prizes altogether through oral quiz.
It would be recalled that the 6 Zonal Education
Officers (ZEOs) of the Educational Zones of the State namely Aguata, Awka,
Nnewi, Ogidi, Onitsha and Otuocha Zones with their Area Education Officers (AEOs)
of the Ministry of Education conducted Local Government Quiz held fortnight ago
in the 21 Local Government Areas of the State were the 1st, 2nd
and 3rd positions went home with N12,000.00
and N8,000.00 as well as N5,000.000 respectively and thus 63
students were rewarded at Local Government Level.
The Acting Director, Education Services Department,
Mrs Monic Okoye in her appreciation to the League of Anambra Professional (LAP)
thanked them for coming up with this exercise to reinforce and encourage the
Students to continue working hard toward academic excellence in learning and in
character. She went on to express her gratitude to the Honourable Commissioner
for Education, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha for approving the Programme to be held
in the State. The Commissioner breezed in during the quiz competition but did
not stay long. Also, she thanked very immensely the Permanent Secretary of the
Ministry of Education, Mrs Ifeoma Ezeaku for coordinating the Preliminary
selection quiz conducted at the Zonal Level across the 6 Educational zones in
the State.
Others present in the programmes were Members of the
Ministry of Education, Teachers of the various schools, parents and guardians
as well as other passer-by. Onwube Mike was the Time Keeper, Modesta Adigom was
the Recorder of the scores, Amaka Molokwu was the Igbo Language Mistress.
Others were Samuel Obi the Quiz Master Mathematics, Ifebu Nnatuanya in charge
of ICT and Teacher in Charge of English Language was Miss Chinyere Ndeche. The
PRO of the Ministry of Education Mr. Emeka Egwuonwu was the Quiz Moderator.
Contenders for the ultimate prizes were as follows
according to their positions starting from the first position in the written
section exams for the Oral final deciding category:

After the oral quiz but the final context, the
following positions emerged as thus:

2nd Position – Nwebunne Chukwubuikem P.

Two persons had aggregate positions of 2nd
and 4th positions and this led to the repeating the quiz to select
the second and third positions by those who had 2nd Positions each. The
subject areas the students were asked to choose their questions were English
Language and ICT. After this time around the second position emerged and the
runner up took 3rd Position and in that order.
