www.odogwublog.com reports the former Anambra State chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Godwin Ibekwe, has urged the federal government to enlist the south east geo-political zone as beneficiaries of the proposed national railway line system; stating that the marginalization of zone in the share of the national cakes is wicked and mischievous.
Comrade Ibekwe, who spoke to newsmen in Awka on Tuesday on the controversy surrounding the exclusion of the zone from the list of approved railway routes submitted to the senate by the Minister of Transport, Chief Rotimi Amaechi, said the move was unacceptable.
According to the former NLC boss, the strategic importance of the south east in Nigeria having produced personalities, who have contributed immensely to the nation’s development should not be taken for granted.
He called for the inclusion of the zone in the railway project and suggested routes such as Onitsha to Kaduna/ Sokoto with branches spread to all strategic locations in the zone.
Comrade Ibekwe commended the Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, for initiating some executive orders which, according to him, is a mark of good leadership.
