Comprehensive Secondary School Nawfia Old Boys Association intensifies plan to establish poultry farm in school

Comprehensive Secondary school, Nawfia, in Njikoka Local Government Area
of Anambra State, has concluded plans to establish poultry farm within
the school premises.
The farm, which will be commercial oriented when established, will take off with 500 birds with hope of increasing the number to 1000 birds after three months.
Briefing newsmen during a joint meeting of the Old Boys Association with the management of the institution at Nawfia, the association’s national president, Dr. Oliver Onwughalu, disclosed that the poultry farm was aimed at solving the protein needs of the school environment and that of the diocese of Awka that owns the school.
According to Onwughalu, the poultry farm will as well, avail students of the institution, the opportunity of learning how to do poultry farming and how to rear animals.
He further hinted that the association, in the spirit of their golden jubilee celebration, coming up towards the end of this year, is already undertaken renovation and erecting new structures in the institution.
“In the jubilee, we have lots of activities of which one of them is to beautify our school, make a new gate and complete the ongoing structures put up in the school by the old boys.
“The poultry farm will be commercial oriented and the old boys who contributed towards setting the farm up will constitute the shareholding in the farm so that it can be sustained.
“We have also communicated the proprietor of the school, the bishop of the diocese, on the intention of also providing the protein needs of the diocese and he was elated by the idea.
“CSS Nawfia is known for education, culture and learning. Any product of this school has the school behind our mind. We have gotten enough from this school and it is the wish of every old boy to see that the discipline of this school is sustained.
Another stakeholder and member of the Old Boys, Col Ben Ifeanyichukwu Nwozor (rtd) explained that all the products of the institution was expected at Nwafia on the date yet to be announced for the golden jubilee.
He pointed out that the essence of the celebration is to see how they can contribute their own quota in bettering the lots of the people, adding that “whatever we put in, no matter how little, will impact positively to the growth of the school”
Principal of the school, Mr. Christian Ezeamaku, described the Old Boys as the most veritable organ of the school that can be used to cause changes structurally.
“Their coming together, will, no doubt, help us tackle some challenges like erosion and insufficient structure and that is why I’m urging them to assist my Parent Teacher Association (PTA) in solving some of our problems”, while former member Anambra state House of Assembly representing Njikoka 1 constituency, Hon Emma Iloegbunam urged all old boys of Nawfia Comprehensive to remember the institution and how to assist its products and the Alma mater grow.
