Shame unto Assemblies of God Worldwide but Governor Ugwuanyi promises to intervene and stop crisis reports that shame is the name of the Assemblies of God Church, Nigeria
Worldwide but the Enugu state governor, Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi today promised to intervene in the protracted crisis that has rocked the Church, whose National headquarter is located, at Independence layout, Enugu and stop the crisis.

Governor Ugwuanyi gave the promise when a faction of the Church loyal to Rev Professor Paul Emeka took a protest march to government house against the Enugu state commissioner of Police, Dan Mallam Mohammed, to have ordered his men to prevent priests loyal to him  from holding a fellowship meeting they scheduled at New Haven, Enugu branch of the Church.

The Priests of Assemblies of God church who have consistently declared their support and loyalty to Rev Professor Paul Emeka, as the authentic General Superintendent of the Church, started to arrive the New Haven branch of the church which is the venue of the meeting, a detachment of the policemen  from the state headquarters arrived and halted them from continuing with the meeting, ordered them to vacate the premises and thereafter locked the gate.

According to an eyewitness, explanations to let the policemen understand that they have come for a scheduled meeting that from every indication will be peaceful fail on deaf ears. Therefore, they summoned courage to march from the New Haven branch of the church to government house, covering a distance of over two kilometers, to lodge their protest against the action of the police.

The group stood outside the government house gate singing Christian songs and prayers, Governor Ugwuanyi after a while walked up to them and told them that his Chief security Officer has made the necessary contacts to the State police commissioner and advised them to go back and continue with their meeting, so far it will not spring up violence of any kind.

Ugwuanyi further assured them that in as much as he is siding any of the factions but he will call for a security meeting to discuss on how to dialogue and end the crisis.

Addressing news men thereafter when they returned to the New haven branch of Assemblies of God Church, Rev Paul Emeka said he called for a meeting with all heads of the church, to brief them on the Supreme Court Judgment of which neither him nor  Rev. Chidi Okoroafor was pronounced as winner, instead order that they should return to status quo, against his claims[Chidi Okoroafor] that he was given judgment by the Supreme Court on February 26.

Again, the rascality with which Rev Chidi Okoroafor, with the support of police man and the Army, violently and forcefully ejected him from the National Secretariat of the party, a fortnight ago.

Rev,Paul Emeka said it was surprising to him that his opponent is still using the police to do  illegal things and assured that he will use all  judicious means to recover the National secretariat of the church, seized by Rev. Chidi Okoroafor and his men.
