www.odogwublog.com reports that the
ruling All Progressive Congress ( APC) in Abia State has moved against
the Minister for Trade and Investment, Mr. Okechukwu Enelamah, accusing
him of treating the party with disdain.
The party also cast doubt over Enelamah's membership of APC , saying "he does not know the party secretariat in Umuahia".
Abia State Chairman of APC Elders
Council, Chief Geoffrey Onyemaobi who conveyed the party's position in
an interview with newsmen in his Afaraukwu Ibeku country home, said
Onyeamah's nonchalance towards the party affairs was " a big
disappointment".
" The Minister has done little or nothing to ensure the growth of APC in Abia", Onyemaobi alleged.
The
APC chieftain further said that Enelamah had decided on his own never
to participate in any of the party's functions despite severally
invitations extended to him.
Continuing,
he said: " since Enelamah was appointed Minister, he has never visited
the state APC secretariat nor care to know how the party is being run
in Abia."
Onyemaobi also alleged
that the Minister had " continuously and deliberately ignored
invitations" sent to him for stakeholders' meetings in the state.
The
Second republic lawmaker vowed that Abia APC would resist any attempt
by President Muhammadu Buhari to re-appoint Enelamah as minister,
arguing that the state's slot can not be given to a non- committed party
member.
" I doubt if the
minister is a registered member of APC", Enelamah said, adding that "
Enelamah never visited or shown concern during the one-week party
membership registration exercise conducted in entire south east zone
including Abia state."
The APC
chief contended that with the likes of Enelamah, APC in Abia might not
win the state in 2019, warning the national leadership of the party not
to ignore the danger signals.
"Any attempt to reappoint him as minister will not augur well to the leadership of APC in Abia state", he added.
The
APC chieftain also cautioned the national leadership of the party to
quickly resolve the internal crisis currently rocking APC ahead of the
2019 general election to avoid playing into the hands of the
opposition.
He criticised Buhari
for his choice of appointee, grudging that majority of those appointed
by the President never worked for the party's victory in 2015.
Chief
Onyemaobi regretted that Buhari had sidelined most of those who
laboured to bring APC to power, warning against the far- reaching
implications of such attitude in 2019.
End.
