www.odogwublog.com reports that the Catholic bishop of Awka diocese, His Lordship Most Rev.
Paulinus Ezeokafor has called on Nigerians to shun corruption and lead a
life of righteousness in the spirit of Easter.
Bishop Ezeokafor who made the call at St. Patricks
Catholic Cathederal, Awka while delivering his Easter message, said that
Easter was a special season when the death of Jesus Christ liberated
mankind from sin and his resurrection assured man of victory over all
forms of affliction.
The charismatic Prelate said the absence of the
consciousness of Christ’s mission on earth made many to lose hope and
resign to fate including taking their own lives.
The bishop who described suicide as a great sin against
God and oneself, called on people to be hopeful that the challenges
facing them and the country would eventually be overcome.
His words, 'These days we hear about people killing
themselves, jumping into the sea, shooting themselves, but we must
exercise hope because we do not know the plans God has for us.
'The worst of all things is for man to take his life; we must have hope that these difficulties in Nigeria will come to pass.
'Jesus saw the problems before him but he believed that there will be victory and accepted the challenges.
'The result is the victory we celebrate at Easter, I am hopeful of a better tomorrow,' he said.
Bishop Ezeokafor prayed for God’s continued blessings on Nigeria and wished all a happy and spirit-filled celebration.
