Abia NUJ, Ikpeazu's CPS Mr. Enyinnaya Apollos settle rift

www.odogwublog.com reports that the  rift between the Abia State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists ( NUJ), and the Chief Press Secretary to Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu, Mr. Enyinnaya Apollos has been resolved.

The resolution followed the intervention of former Commissioner for Information, Dr. Anthony Agbazuere.

NUJ had called for the redeployment of Apollos for alleged derogatory remarks on the leadership and members of the union as well as for having " poor working relationship with journalists in the state".

But both parties agreed to cease hostilities and work together as partners in progress after a reconciliatory meeting Thursday evening  at the Umuahia office of Agbazuere.

In his remarks at the meeting , Agbazure thanked both parties for accepting to make peace, and appealed to them to put behind their differences in the overall interest of the Ikpeazu- led administration.

A three - point communiqué was issued after the meeting and signed by the NUJ Chairman, Comrade John Emejor; Apollos; as well as Chairmen and Secretaries of all NUJ chapels in the state.

The communique read in part: " That any hitherto misunderstanding that existed between the CPS and NUJ as well as the Correspondents Chapel has today been resolved amicably.

" That all parties shall work together harmoniously in the interest of the state and for the sustenance of the progress being recorded by  the administration of Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu.

" That all parties agreed to enhance their cooperation and relationship for greater productivity."
