Sports can curtail criminal activities-Onigbinde

Former FIFA and CAF Instructor, Chief Adegboye Onigbinde, on Thursday said that many Nigerian youths will shun criminal activities if engaged in sporting activities by Governments at all levels.
The highly respected coach said this while delivering a lecture as a guest at the sports summit organized by the Oyo state Sports Writers Association, led by Adeniyi Adebiosu at the D'Rovens Hotel, Ibadan.
Onogbinde said: Our youths could be more useful to the development of their nation if they are fully engaged in one sporting activities or the other.
If a boy leaves school on daily basis and upon getting home, leaves for the stadium to engage in football raining, by the time he comes back home after the long and stressful training, he would have got tired and it would be difficult for such a child to be running around with politicians as a thug or constitute a nuisance to the entire community"
The General Manager of Oyo state sports Council, Gboyega Makinde, added that 'Enough sport talents abound in our secondary schools if we can allow the traditional way of catch them young programmes."
