Policeman killed in Rivers rerun buried


The police officer who was killed during the legislative elections in Rivers State has been buried.
Mohammed Alkali was buried in Bosso, Niger State, on Monday.
Mr Alkali was killed along with some of his colleagues in the violence that characterised the rerun elections to fill vacant legislative seats.
PREMIUM TIMES reported how Mr. Mohammed, a deputy superintendent of police, was killed during an ambush at Omoku, Onelga Local Government Area,
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the corpse, which arrived Minna at about 1.30 a.m., was received by the deceased’s father, Yakubu Alkali, a retired Commissioner of Police, family members and many sympathisers.
The funeral rites were witnessed by top government officials that included Zubairu Muazu, Commissioner of Police in Niger.
The deceased is survived by his parents, one wife and three children.
