NASS to complete constitution amendment in 2017

The president of the senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki has revealed that the process of amending the 1999 constitution being undertaken by the National Assembly would be completed early next year. Te pledge came just as the leadership of the parliament said it was poised to work closely with the Nigerian Bar Association to update a plethora of obsolete laws to bring them in consonance with  the realities of modern liberal democratic economies.

Saraki revealed this when members of the National Executive of the Nigerian Bar Association [NBA], led by its president, Abubakar Balarabe Mahmud[SAN], visited him at the National Assembly, Abuja.

According to him, the current process of amending the constitution started very early because experience had shown that it could be a problem if it comes close to an election year. Saraki said.
