Fake solder, police , others paraded in Abia

www.odogwublog.com reports that the Abia State Police Command, Tuesday, paraded a suspected fake solder, Okemiri Eberechukwu, who dressed in Army uniform to rob and terrorize Aba residents.

According to the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Leye Oyebade , the suspect was arrested in October while dispossessing traders of their money, handsets, computers and other valuables.

Police said they had received series of complaints that a gang usually decked in military uniform had been raiding the area to exploit the people , and decided to lay ambush.

Items recovered from him include : one military trouser, military sweater, military head warmer, and two wraps of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp.

Later in an interview, the suspect who said he attended military training but was not absorbed , explained that he went to the said market in military uniform   to arrest those who allegedly stole his sister's cell phone.

He claimed he decided to wear army  uniform because Aba residents are always jittery when they sight the military, adding that he is a fashion designer and sew the army camouflage by himself.

Paraded also was one fake Assistant Superintendent of Police, Chijioke Stanley who was arrested after stealing the wallet of a co- passenger in a tricycle in Aba.

According to police, the suspect who claimed to be attached to the Area M, Lagos State Police Command was later  found to be an impostor.

Later in an interview, the  suspect who had police warrant card ,  confessed to the crime but said it was his first attempt.

Paraded also was one David Chibuikem who along with his gang robbed a business man who arrived Aba from Niger State.

The suspect claimed it was his accomplice now on the run that allegedly robbed the victim while himself was driving.

The police also paraded some suspected cultists from Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike who were arrested with guns.

The suspects who admitted they were members of Vikins confraternity   include : Ogbonna Ikwueze, 23, a 500 level student of Mechanical Engineering; John Chigozie,21; Okechukwu James,24; and Nwogu Tochukwu, 21.

Police said the suspects were arrested by the security operatives of the university and handed over to the police while engaging in cultism in a bush.

Items recovered from them were two locally - made pistols, two live cartridges, and two expended cartridges.
