Borno begins reconstruction of roads, drainage


Governor Kashim Shetima has said that with relative peace and degrading of Boko Haram by the military troops, his administration has resumed construction of abandoned roads and drainage network in Biu Local Government Area and other communities in the southern district of the state.

He also said the ongoing rehabilitation of township roads in Biu and the construction of the 40-kilometer Miringa-Gunda road and bridges, abandoned due to insecurity would be completed before the first quarter of next year.

Represenred by the commissioner for works and transport, Adamu Lawan, the Governor said his week long official engagement in the area was to oversee commencement of ongoing roads and drainage projects to ensure that quality work was not compromised.

While thanking Governor Shettima and the commissioner for the visit and resumption of work on the abandoned projects in his domain, the Emir, Mai Aliyu, said Biu Emirate deserve full attention of the present administration in providing dividends of democracy and infrastructure development in view of its economic potentialities.
