CAN suspends Imo chapter indefinitely over crisis as Most Rev. Prof. David Eberechukwu fumes

www.odogwublog.com reports that the South East zone of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has announced an indefinite suspension of it's Imo state chapter from every activity of the organisation in the zone, over lingering crisis in the leadership of the state wing of the organisation.

The Chairman of CAN in the South-East, Most Rev. Prof. David Eberechukwu, who made the disclosure yesterday, called on  the former Chairman of CAN in Imo State, Bishop Stafford Nworgu, to stop parading himself as leader of CAN  in Imo state, henceforth.

Professor Ebere Chukwu notified the general public that  the Imo state chapter has no leadership for now and therefore should discard instructions from any body who might come to deceive them.

His words, “It is important to say this because it has come to the notice of CAN in the South-East and the national level that the out-gone chairman, Bishop Stafford Nworgu, is presenting and parading a non-approved Executive in Imo State. This is an embarrassment.”

Eberechukwu added that the CAN President, Dr. Sampson Ayokunle had already directed that the Exco should not be recognized pending when all the administrative matters in the area were resolved.

“We, therefore, sound this note of warning that  a violation of this directive is tantamount to total disobedience to the CAN authority..The church will not tolerate crisis and hopes to bring about a lasting solution to the crisis in Imo State CAN”, he further stated.

Reacting to the development,  the secretary of  CAN in the 17 Southern States, Dr. Joseph Ajujungwa commended CAN national president for his intervention, urging all the parties to give peace a chance.
