www.odogwublog.com reports that the Church of Nigeria,Anglican communion,Diocese of Nsukka, on Sunday conferred an 'award of excellence' on Enugu state Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi,stating it is for his contribution to the social and economic development of the state.
The award
which the Nsukka diocese,Anglican communion, said was the first of it's kind
was presented to Governor Ugwuanyi during the thanksgiving service to
mark the 2nd Session of the 8th Synod of the diocese, held at Saint
Paul's Cathedral, Nsukka, Enugu State.
Governor Ugwuanyi thanked the church for deeming him fit for the honour and reiterated the commitment of his administration to the development of Enugu state and the welfare of its people.
He charged the church to be unrelenting in their prayers as the country struggles to overcome the current economic recession.
Ugwuanyi stated, “As a government, We will continue to collaborate with the church
towards the implementation of all government policies and programmes,"
Delivering a sermon, the Bishop of Enugu North Diocese of Anglican
Communion, Rt. Rev. Sosthenes Eze, charged the congregation to shun
greed and always remember that decent societies are not created only
by
leaders.
His
words, "We all have our part to play in building a good society,"
Bishop Eze extolled Governor Ugwuanyi for his people-oriented
programmes, which he said necessitated the award and urged him to remain steadfast.
Also speaking, the Bishop of the Cathedral Church of Saint Paul, Diocese of Nsukka Anglican Communion, Rt. Rev. A.E. Agbo (JP), said the church decided to honour Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi because of his "landmark achievements in the areas of human development and poverty alleviation" particularly with regard to
the less privileged.
He urged other leaders to emulate Governor Ugwuanyi's humility and
leadership style, Bishop Agbo charged all Christian faithfuls to have the fear of God in all they do because everyone would be judged according
to his or
her deeds.
